Older and Better with Shelly

Gidgets are things new to use. Gadgets are older things but still hard to use. Gurus are the folks who help us use them. Technology is happening faster than one can learn it. By the time you learn it, it's obsolete. Learning the iPhone was a hard one to tackle. With a little help from my sons and grandson I mastered it. Not the complex stuff but email, google, Instagram, Facebook and the camera, my number one priority.  Oh and shopping on line, YouTube and more. Then they had the nerve to upgrade the iPhone. Had to get that. Could not fall behind. Our two sons, who are gadget gurus, have this notion as long as they keep mom in the know about gadgets I will not lose my mind. I have news for them, I am way ahead on that. I can walk from the kitchen to the bedroom and forget what I wanted. Or open the fridge in search for what? So I digress. An aging mind gets you every time. Meanwhile my friends were taking classes to use iPhones. Some refused

As a white-knuckle flyer with a horrid imagination, something happened on our plane ride home from the U.K. that put me in a tizzy! One week in the U.K. has me talking like a true Brit. On our pleasant ride home a mom with a new baby sat in front of us. Babies are unpredictable so one does not know what could happen. This baby, Max, was a cutie pie. He smiled and talked, a perfect trooper so far. About one hour into the trip his mom noticed a steady stream of water coming in over her head. I thought oh no, a hole in the plane, we are going down! I was too busy playing Bejeweled Blitz to pay attention to instructions of what to do if we crashed. Luckily the people around me were not in panic mode. It was a full bottle of water in someone's luggage. She had to stand up, cover up from feeding the baby, and hand him off to her traveling companion. We all pressed the stewardess button and she said, “OK who has luggage up here that is leaking?” 

Have you ever noticed this world has become one giant spice? For several years I've been seeing jalapeño everything. Now this past year everything is Sriracha! A few years ago we were at a fair where they sold homemade jams and jellies. For the life of me I could not find one jelly or jam that was normal. How about jalapeño, lemon pepper, red pepper flakes and hot pepper jams and jellies! Not one normal jelly in the bunch. Normal barbecue sauce. What's that? We have Sriracha barbecue sauce, honey barbecue sauce, hot and spicy barbecue sauce, and vinegar barbecue sauce. How about a normal potato chip? We have salt and vinegar potato chips. Who in their right mind wants to eat that? Then there's ranch potato chips, barbecue potato chips, hot and spicy potato chips, and crunchy chips. All potato chips are crunchy what's that about?
